Sandra’s life journey began in Santa Cruz, California, in a difficult home
situation with parents who divorced by the time she was age one. By the Grace
of God, she found stability in a foster home to finish and graduate with honors
from high school.
Shortly after graduation, she moved to Colorado and made it home for the next
20 years, as a local business owner, homeschooling parent and organic farmer.
After moving with her family to Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sandra became quickly and
passionately involved in interfaith outreach work. She is currently serving as
treasurer/secretary officer of TaHa Mosque & Islamic Center of Santa Fe.
She was the first coordinator of Community Closet, an initiative of the
Interfaith Leadership Alliance, which provides clothing and supplies to members
of the homeless community. This path has led her to serve homeless individuals
as part of the Interfaith Community Shelter Group. She ascribes her commitment
to help the needy with this sentiment: “I have sat at the feet of weary
travelers who have seen many miles and tribulations and I couldn’t be more
humbled”.
