Bob was the treasurer of Austin Friends Meeting for 10 years, and chair
of its finance committee for 14 years. Since moving to Santa Fe in
2005, Bob has been on the Santa Fe Friends Meeting's finance committee
for three years, recently completing two years as treasurer. For the
past four years Bob has been a member of the finance committee of the
Eldorado Community Improvement Association. He is a member and past
president of the Joan Duffy Chapter of Veterans for Peace.
Bob retired in 2005 after a career as a public librarian. During his
last 20 years he helped the 76 city, county, and nonprofit public
libraries of the Central Texas Library System automate and connect to
the Internet. He served for five years as the chair of a Texas Library
Association statewide committee developing standards for public
libraries and for three years as chair of a statewide committee
advising the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board on the
distribution of $130 million in grants to 8,000 school, public, and
college libraries. He has also served as board chair of a statewide
nonprofit supporting Texas libraries. In 2001 he was named Librarian of
the Year by the Texas Library Association.
Bob’s involvement with the Interfaith Shelter began through the Friends
and Veterans for Peace, two participating organizations that have
provided volunteer and financial support.
