Ken grew up in Wisconsin, attended Ripon College, graduated from the
University of Wisconsin, and received a Ph.D. from the University of
Washington.
After studying at the British Museum in London under a Woodrow Wilson
fellowship, he wrote a dissertation on Shakespeare’s Last Plays. After
teaching Shakespeare and medieval and Renaissance literature at the
University of Kentucky for over six years, he was called to priesthood
in the Episcopal Church, attended seminary in Chicago and served
parishes in Chicago, Michigan, El Paso, Rome (Italy), St. Louis, Vail,
and Phoenix. In Phoenix, he was an intermediary for anonymous
benefactors who sponsored a family of four displaced by hurricane
Katrina.
Ken is presently rector of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Faith, a
downtown church in Santa Fe where he is touched by regular encounters
with homeless men and women, sometimes with children, whose
heart-wrenching stories reinforce his desire to be proactive in helping
“the least of these.” Ken has been active in working with the homeless
people of Santa Fe since the week he moved to town several years ago.
In other places he has been instrumental in establishing hospices, counseling centers, and other social services.
Ken is also an accredited professional ski instructor and teaches part
time at the Ernie Blake Ski School in Taos. Married to Caroline, they
have four children and six grandchildren.
